The Risk of nutritional imbalance due to excess is the state in which the individual runs the risk of consuming an amount of food that is higher than her metabolic demands.

Defining characteristics

Presence of the following risk factors:

  • Reference or observation of obesity in one or both parents.
  • Appreciation of a psychological conditioning regarding food, or tendency to eat food as a reward or well-being.
  • Reference of the use of solid foods as the main nutritional source before five months of life.
  • Observation of a rapid evolution in growth percentiles in infants and children.
  • Reference or observation of a progressively higher basal weight at the beginning of each pregnancy.
  • Reference or observation of an inappropriate eating pattern:
    • Food intake while doing other activities.
    • Concentration of intake at the end of the day.
    • Eating in response to external factors, such as time of day or social situation.
    • Eating in response to internal factors other than appetite, such as anxiety.

  • Hereditary predisposition.
  • Frequent gestation and little distance from each other.
  • Excessive caloric intake in the last phase of pregnancy.
  • Excessive caloric intake in childhood or puberty.
